Yesterday, at around 7:00 in the morning, the Body Engineering community WhatsApp group was already red hot.
One gentleman posted a picture of his weight on a scale: it said 85 kg.
He then wrote:
"One year ago I had my regular medical check-up. I was forbidden to work at height (above ground level) because of my morbid obesity. I weighed 117 kg.
One year later, I entered the clinic a different person. The Body Engineering program changed my life completely. And for this, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart."
Then someone else wrote:
"Congratulations on your willpower, well done, you are a very good example."
I simply saw red.
My blood just started to boil when I read: "Congratulations on your willpower."
✅ WILLPOWER YADA YADA
Well, I've been struggling with my weight ever since I was 10 years old. Do you really think willpower was the magic ingredient?
Do you think I've been keeping my figure for 15 years with willpower?
I think this willpower thing is just an excuse for mediocre people to do nothing.
"Yes Valentin, but you had the willpower, that's why you lost weight."
The hell I did. And what do you mean exactly?
That until 15 years ago I didn't have the willpower?
That I didn't want to look good and be healthy?
Or was it that I didn't have a good plan to follow?
✅ WILLPOWER OR A PLAN?
I think that if you have the wrong plan, there’s no reason for you to stick to it. It won't get you anywhere.
You know what I mean:
counting calories, eating at set times, weighing your food;
dissociated meals, fixed meal schedule, ballerina style - exercising until you're exhausted;
not eating eating after 6 pm;
never combining 2 protein sources during a meal;
eating 3 meals and 2 snacks;
eating every 3 hours;
yada yada yada.
It's like wanting to get to Vienna but getting on the highway to Athens.
I don't think it's about willpower.
If you're obese and sick, can you tell me that you don't want to look good and be healthy? Of course you want that.
So the problem is not about you lacking the willpower. I wrote a good article about it; please read it.

✅ MOTIVATION
And so we come to the second point on today's list.
„Yes Valentin, but I don't have the motivation to lose weight!”
I read in the dictionary what motivation means.
"The totality of reasons that determine someone to perform a certain action or to strive for certain goals."
Do you know what I've noticed over time?
That you get your salary (reward) AFTER a month of work.
That you get the satisfaction, that feeling of well-being (reward) AFTER you exercise.
That motivation (the reward) comes AFTER you see progress on the scale week after week.
Motivation only comes AFTER the results appear.
✅ MOTIVATION II
Do you think I was motivated to start writing on Substack in August 2023?
Like hell I was.
I was simply desperate to do something extra to patch up my income - new taxes were expected to come into force at that time.
The motivation came when you all started supporting our project with 0.2 Euros per day.
With each passing day, the number of subscribers grew and the motivation grew exponentially.
I started out of desperation, I continued thanks to your support that motivated me like crazy.
