Why do I get fat?
Simple: because you eat more energy than your body needs.
I would rather use the word “energy” instead of the word “calories”.
Somehow, it seems to me that the word “calorie” has a negative connotation.
✅ ENERGY…?
☀️ Solar energy is captured by plants via photosynthesis and then transformed into chemical energy (glucose, fructose, starch, oils).
Energy from plants:
rice starch, flour, potatoes, corn;
glucose and fructose from fruits;
olive oil, coconuts, peanuts, seeds, nuts.
🌱 Herbivore animals consume energy from plants and their body stocks up all excess in fat cells for the winter.
Energy from animals:
pork fat;
the fatty part of bacon;
fish fats;
lard, butter.
🥩 Carnivore animals consume energy from herbivore animals and their body stocks up all excess in fat cells for the winter.
The Homo Sapiens is an omnivore – we consume both plants and animals (with energy) and our bodies stock up all excess energy for the winter.
✅ WINTER…?
For millions of years, animals have sought to accumulate as much energy in the summer in order to have enough surplus for the winter, when there is very little to no food.
See the example of bears. Since they are big and sluggish, they can barely hunt in the summer, let alone in the winter, when there are 2 meters of snow.
The most handy solution for them is to accumulate as much energy in spring, summer and autumn an then hibernate for a few months (fasting).
Of course, “winter” for domestic animals never really comes – including for the homo sapiens. This is part of the problem.
✅ THE BEAR DIET
In the summer, the brown bear’s diet consists of 80% fruit. Exactly, dare to believe that all fruit is fattening: natural, wild, forest, bio fruits. 😱
Why do they make the bear fat? Because they have captured solar energy, they have transformed it into chemical energy (glucose and fructose), and the bear will eat them excessively.
The bear’s liver transforms glucose and fructose in the fruits into fats (triglycerides), which are then sent to the fat cells (adipocytes) in order to be stocked up for the hibernation period.
When a bear hibernates, triglycerides from the fat cells are released, decomposed into glycerol (glucose) and fatty acids and are then sent towards the organs. The bear loses weight.
The stored fat ensures an energy flow – sufficient for the proper functioning of the organs and for its body’s constant temperature.
The bear has accumulated solar energy from its environment during the summer (just like a battery). The beat then releases the energy back into the environment during the winter (as heat) – exactly like a battery (but a biological one).
✅ THERMODYNAMICS
The first principle of thermodynamics says that energy cannot be created or destroyed. Energy can only be transformed from one state to another endlessly.
Meaning: solar energy -> chemical energy in plants and animals (carbs / fats) -> energy is stocked in the body (glycogen / fat) -> energy is released by the body (ATP / heat towards the environment.
✅ THE FIRST PRINCIPLE OF THERMODYNAMICS
Basically, the first principle of thermodynamics for the metabolism clearly states:
“If you have eaten energy and you haven’t consumed it via mechanical work (physical effort, sports, digging, walking), then that energy will remain stocked within the body”.
Practically, the fat (energy stored in the body) is simply the difference (result of subtraction) between the energy we eat and the energy we consume via physical activity.
You gained weight because for tens or hundreds of days you ate a bit more energy than your body required and you were a bit more static.
In order to lose weight, you will need to move a bit more and eat a bit less for a few tens or hundreds of days. More energy, not less food.
✅ POUR YOURSELF A JUG OF COFFEE
Poor yourself a jug of coffee and I will teach you how to lose weight without counting calories, weighing food, eating on a specific timetable or starving yourself.
My ferm promise to you is that I will help you create a nutrition system designed specifically for energy deficits, losing weight and maintaining that weight your whole life. All while you eat until you are full.
Body Engineering, my program, is known for many things.
One of them: reading actually helps you lose weight. Subscribe to continue reading. I promise you a 100x ROI 👇
✅ NATURAL AND HEALTHY
I will add another thing here: it doesn’t matter how “clean” or “dirty” the source of the energy is.
Two greasy pastries will be as fattening as extra-virgin olive oil if you add it by the glassful in your salad. If those calories are in excess of your body’s daily energy requirements, you WILL gain weight.
Guess what: a tomato salad in which you added extra-virgin oil by the glassful, 200 grams of feta cheese and a BIO avocado fruit of Peruvian origin WILL enable you to gain as much weight as a big slice of cake made with flour, sugar and margarine.
If you have 300 calories worth of margarine and 300 calories worth of butter, which one do you think will fatten you more?
From a thermodynamic perspective, for the human body, the principle that states “a calorie is a calorie” is 100% true.
Your body doesn’t care if it receives a calorie from an avocado or one from a pastry. If that calorie is in excess, it will be stocked up by your body. As fat.
Just like me for decades, most people mistake “healthy” for “useful”.
I never said that cheese or olive oil are not healthy.
I only said that they are true “calorie bombs” and are not adequate / useful in the process of losing weight.
✍️ I have prepared an in-depth article on types of cheese we recommend in our weight loss program. It’s coming soon.
✅ CALORIMETRY
Nobody weighs food in our Weightless program. Nobody ever did this in our program.
I am using the example of “calories” to help you become aware of an important aspect.
Practically, any mammal on the planet needs a certain amount of energy in 24 hours (based on volume, physical activity levels, age and other factors).
For example, let’s take a 35-year-old woman, who is 165 centimeters tall and weighs 60 kilograms.
She is the mother of a young child (meaning she is almost never stationary). 🙂
Her body, within 24 hours, needs energy in order to maintain a constant temperature at 37 degrees Celsius, keep organs functional, run after the kid all day long, maybe even for breastfeeding.
This way, we can precisely calculate her necessary energy consumption levels into Joules, which are then transformed into calories and then kilo-calories.
✅ EXAMPLE
Let's say that the estimated energy requirement for a person is 2000 kcal/day.
If that person eats precisely 2000 kcal worth of food in 24 hours, then that person will maintain body weight.
If that person eats less energy in 24h, let’s say 1700 kcal, that person will lose the equivalent of the 300 kcal (about 33 grams) in weight.
If in 24h that person eats 2300 kcal in a day, the body will stock up 300 kcal worth of reserves (fat).
The interesting part: if that person just ate 2300 kcal worth of the cleanest and most natural food on the planet, that person will still gain the weight.
Just like eating 1700 kcal worth of fried chicken, chocolate bars and pastries will actually make the person lose weight…
👉🏻 If this information just caused you the equivalent of a blue screen in a computer, then send your questions and comments.
Now let’s get back to the initial question.
✅ WHY YOU GET FAT?
Simple: you eat more energy than your body needs. Basically, any gram of extra “energy”, no matter how clean its source, will be deposited by your body into fat cells.
⚡ There are so many angles and perspectives here, it’s a complex phenomenon. After you understand it, you will know how to act on the causes of it. Here is where we come in: we provide the educational aspect.
Many community members have told us, after many years of testing multiple services on the market:
“In Romania, there is no one else more skilled in explaining the complex metabolic phenomena. Simple terms, easy to comprehend, accessible to everyone”.
⚡ Some people say that fat people have become fat because of their laziness or because of being callous: “Look at them: they can’t control themselves, they eat too much, they can’t stop eating”.
Some people believe that if you have some extra pounds, then you must be lazy.
This whole global obesity problem would be solved if fat people would just eat less and go to the gym more often.
✅ PARADOXICALLY
However, we have 2 paradoxes here:
People with extra pounds go on diets and they regularly exercise at the gym, with no results.
They must be eating on the side, am I right? I have included myself in this category for a long time.
We all have those friends who are thin “as a rail”, for whom nutrition has no meaning because they can just eat however much of anything, anytime without gaining weight.
Moreover, they have never exercised one minute in their lives. They were simply born that way.
✅ SO?
So, why do you get fat?
1. Alcohol = fructose.
You eat foods that are 100% processed into fat, regardless of whether you just ran a marathon or you didn’t eat for 5 days.
Ethyl alcohol and fructose (contained in fruits, fresh juice, honey, sugar, maple syrup, corn syrup) are 100% processed into fat and deposited in the hypodermic fatty tissue (or what we like to call “cardboard” – I am an engineer after all).
2. You are static.
Your body’s glucose reserves are full (you have about 300 grams in your muscles and about 80 grams in your liver). You eat sugar, honey, syrups, fruit, starch (contained in cereal, bread, pasta, potatoes, rice, quinoa, etc.).
You have your body’s glucose reserves full and the glucose from the starch you consume is converted into triglycerides and stocked into your fatty tissue.
