The thing I hear most often:
“I gained 20 kilos in the past 5 years. This wouldn’t have happened if…”
✅ WHY DO YOU GET FAT?
Simple: because you usually take in (eat) more energy (calories) than your body requires.
Or because your daily routine is not active enough.
Or (most likely) both.
✅ 20 KILOGRAMS
One kilogram of human fat is estimated at around 7500 calories.
20 kg = 150000 calories.
If you divide 150k calories by 5 (years) and then by 365 (days) we will get 80 calories.
You practically gained 20 kilograms in 5 years because you ate 80 calories more than your daily energy necessary intake. Every day.
✅ + 80 CALORIES
One measly 160 gram apple has 80 calories.
One thin slice of bread (30 grams) has 80 calories.
11 grams of butter contains 80 calories.
Two spoonfuls of olive oil in your salad? That’s right: that’s 80 calories.
Do you know what this information tells me?
That most people have decent, rational diets – no exaggerations.
✅ - 80 CALORIES
For a 35 – 50 year old female with a height at around 1.65 meters and weighing 60-70 kilorams…
30 minutes of walking at a speed of 4 km/h will consume 80 calories.
Those 20 kilograms wouldn’t have piled on if you would have had those (extra) 30 minutes of walking every day.
Here is how a little bit of walking has very little effect from day to day, but has a colossal effect over 5 years.
✅ CHOOSE WISELY
No one tells you not to eat does cookies or that hot pretzel.
No one forbids you from drinking that glass of wine in the evening.
But if you want to have (culinary) fun, then pay your entrance ticket: make the time for a minimum of 30 minutes of walking every day.
I know it doesn’t sound nearly as sexy as doing HIIT, cycling classes, CrossFit or God knows what else.
Is it too much to ask?
✅ LOSE WEIGHT WHILE WALKING
Walking is a common sense activity and it’s safe both for overweight as well as obese persons.
Walking will not cause your appetite to increase.
Walking will relax you, it will calm you down, it will help you gather your thoughts. While walking you can listen to a podcast or an audiobook.
You don’t need to go out to the park in the evening after work – when your mood and energy levels are low anyway.
All you need to do is maybe park a little bit further from the office, from the supermarket entrance. Just walk up and down the stairs, stand more.
You’ll maybe say that it’s a bit too hot now in the summer and you can’t walk. But what’s stopping you from walking in the morning at 6 AM?
You’ll maybe say you can’t wake up early. Well, go to sleep earlier.
You’ll maybe say that after a hard day’s work you want to live a little in the evening.
OK, “you can sleep when you’re dead” – like the famous American expression goes.
✅ CONCLUSION
As a conclusion: a wise person chooses the sure path towards their objective.
I suspect you’re no longer 20 years old. I don’t think you can afford to go on those starvation diets. I also don’t think you can afford to exercise until exhaustion.
I don’t think you can afford any CrossFit injuries or stumbling on the street because of hunger.
In the end, you decide.
What I am offering here is the easy, surefire way.
What I am proposing is for you to lose weight while walking.
It’s free. Take advantage!
