Everything in Moderation
One of the biggest lies in the weight loss industry is that you have to eat a little bit of everything in order to lose weight.
You know what will happen if you believe this concept: at the next consultation with your nutritionist, you will get a food scale, free of charge đ
â PRINT
As a nutritional specialist, all you have to do is strengthen this belief.
Then - what can be easier than having 20 pre-established menus and hitting the print button?
[Of course, these days there is a PDF version of those files.]
â RECURRING
Next, you need to add in the key phrase for securing a recurring customer:
âYou have to come back next week to change the menu. Your body will get used to this diet and you will stop losing weightâ.
You know those body builders eating rice and vegetables and lean meat 5 times a day, for years on end, right? They must be so stupidâŚ
â THE FUN
The frustrating part is yet to come. You will get a default menu: 3 meals and 2 snacks with foods you MUST weigh and eat at a specific time. Every day.
â BUT YOUâRE NOT HUNGRY
Even if youâre not hungry (or you donât like the foods you eat) you must eat. Because itâs written right there: at 10.30, you must have 74.5 grams of apples with a Wasa bar.
âď¸ I never buy Wasa â an article on this coming soon.
â BUT YOUâRE HUNGRY
And when you are indeed hungry, guess what: you should eat very little. Thatâs what it says right there on the paper. On Thursday, at lunch youâll have 125 grams of asparagus with 115 grams of salmon.
If you are in a meeting and you donât have the time and even if youâre not hungry, you MUST eat that.
â YOUâRE (NOT) IN THE MOOD
Although you donât have the time or the right mood to eat in the morning and youâre not hungry, you MUST eat â thatâs what it says on the paper.
Although your body is telling you otherwise, you must get up from the table while youâre still hungry.
You MUST go do cardio 3 to 5 times a week â thatâs why you got fat in the first place: youâre lazy. Right?
â YOUâRE NOT ALLOWED đ¤Ą
YOUâRE NOT ALLOWED to go to bed on a full stomach;
YOUâRE NOT ALLOWED to feel full;
YOUâRE NOT ALLOWED to have cravings;
YOUâRE NOT ALLOWED to stray.
And, in the end, if you canât respect all these things and you donât lose weight, it is only YOUR fault! đ¤ˇââď¸
â WELL, WELL, WELL, WHAT DO YOU KNOW
Here is the thing: we donât exercise a lot, we donât create menus, we donât do the â5 meals and 7 snacksâ thing, we donât keep food journals, we donât count calories, we donât weigh food.
Our members lose on average 1 kilogram per week (if they still have weight to lose) â without anybody creating a PDF menu for them.
â MODERATION
We eat a lot, we only get up from the table when weâre full and we donât believe in this concept of âmoderationâ because it doesnât exist!
âď¸ Humans are like animals â they need to eat until they are full. Telling someone to eat less is like telling them to breathe less. đ
Here are some things in your life where moderation is NOT key:
Your watch, phone, laptop, cars, house, vacations, clothes, shoes, jewellery.
â EXCESS IS IN OUR DNA
Homo sapiens is built with excess in his DNA â we were made like that: faulty. There is a faulty wire there between a minimum of effort and a maximum of excess.
In less than 100 years we managed to devastate a whole planet â and you want everyone to practice moderation?
Somehow, when it comes to food, we are supposed to practice moderation and eat very little because thatâs what specialists with no training or experience tell us to.
What I love most: nutritional specialists who recommend having everything in moderation â but they are obese and sick and they admit themselves that they donât practice what they preach.
But you know what? Theyâll recommend you buy all sorts of expensive items like chlorella, spirulina, hemp seeds, avocado, goji (or whichever superfood comes up next). Theyâll recommend you buy all sorts of supplements, powders, and meal replacements. And theyâll get a commission for it.
âď¸ I never buy hemp seeds
âď¸ I never buy avocado either.
