An ode to walking
We all have that one friend who goes everywhere on foot. I am that friend. Here's why.
One of the very important pillars of the Body Engineering philosophy is walking.
We even have a dedicated Strava group. Members from the top ten many times do more than 100 kilometers per week on foot.
This is the situation on a random Tuesday at 5:42 PM. Here is how the classification looks like after only 2 days.
All classifications and figures are reset every Monday at 00:00.
There are people who have already walked 35 kilometers in 2 days. The average for the top 15 is 20 km in 2 days, meaning an average of 10 km per day.
A normal walking average for our members is somewhere around 70 kilometers per week.
Bianca (50) wrote on the WhatsApp group dedicated to „The Elite Club” members in our program.
She provided photographic evidence of how she walked for 10 km in the rain. Of course, someone cracked the already classic joke:
„Yes, Bianca, but you have the time to walk” 😌
She lost around 35 kilograms and has been maintaining that weight for an year already.
Her husband also lost 40 kg and his diabetes medical tests show an improvement: from a diabetic (HbA1c 7%) to a healthy man (HbA1c 5.2%).
Here is what she wrote
“Walking brought me so many physical and psychological benefits – so I will never give it up.
The first time I decided to go home on foot from my office, I thought I would never finish those 3 kilometers.
In the beginning, I had muscle soreness, but I felt so good.
Slowly but surely I started wanting more. Within one year, I was already walking 10-12 km per day.
I rarely use my headphones. Maybe sometimes I’ll listen to the Body Engineering webinar.
While I walk, I like to think about various things, plan my daily activities, find solutions to everyday issues, I like to notice what’s happening around me…
It’s like therapy. It’s just me spending time with myself.
Physical benefits? There are so many of them:
I started going to bed early and my sleep is deeper;
I started losing 1 kilo per week, instead of only 500 grams;
my feed don’t hurt anymore;
I can breathe easier;
I noticed I can also run very easily, if the need arises;
I can easily deal with a stressful day;
I used to have problems with my shoulders – now not anymore;
It’s much easier now to help my daughter (who is in a wheelchair) up the stairs.
How could I possibly not find the time to walk - with all these physical and mental benefits?
I’ll take advantage of any opportunity to go anywhere on foot. Moreover, I like what I see in the mirror😉.”
This is the correct answer to the comment: “Yes, Bianca, but you have time to walk.” ❤️
I have inserted bits and pieces about the benefits of walking in other articles as well.
Thank you for your attention.
One more thing. Would you be open to support our activity for only 20 Eurocents per day? Press the button below and see the benefits.
