About cardiovascular disease 1
We will continue the series of articles aimed at prevention, this time with information about cardiovascular disease.
I think one of the fears you have is that of heart disease. But is this fear justified?
There are more and more cases of people suffering a heart attack at an early age, so perhaps these fears are justified.
And if we look at the statistics, things are not looking great at all.
✅ STATISTICS
In fact, a woman is 10x more likely to die from heart disease than from breast cancer. And yet many women fear breast cancer more than heart disease.
The problem with cardiovascular diseases is that they develop extremely slowly, over decades, without any obvious symptoms.
At least 50% of those who find out for the first time that they are facing heart problems do so only when they have suffered a heart attack - which can sometimes be fatal.
For men, more than half of those diagnosed with heart disease experience a major cardiac event before the age of 65, and for women, more than a third will be in a similar situation.
Heart disease can occur in people in their 40s, 50s, or 60s, and the trend is for more and more young people to see a doctor for cardiovascular problems. [1]
Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death globally - for both men and women. [2]
It’s the most common cause of death worldwide.
After I learned about all these statistics, I changed the way I picture death in my head: I no longer picture the grim reaper with a scythe in their hand – but, nowadays, the grim reaper with a heart in their hand.
Even more interesting is the fact that no matter how long we can survive any other disease, we will most likely end up dying because of cardiovascular disease.
In the European Union, the stat numbers are not far from the global ones. [3]
Every 30 minutes, a Romanian dies due to a heart attack.
More than 57% of deaths in our country are due to cardiovascular diseases.
That is, the chances of ending your journey in this world because of heart disease are very, very high.
Therefore, I believe that you should invest most of your resources in prevention – particularly in this area and especially if you have a history of cardiovascular disease in your family.
✅ WHAT DOES THE PROBLEM LOOK LIKE?
But, in order to prevent something, you must truly understand the problem.
And with this I would like to offer you some assistance - from the perspective of an ordinary person, with no medical studies, but with a great desire to find a suitable way to fight against an invisible enemy that claims countless victims every year.
I admit that I am still under the influence of a recent tragedy, with my father passing away a short time ago due to heart failure and diabetes.
But this very event has made me study the problem in much more detail and find a way to present it to you.
Before going into details, I just want to tell you that no matter how old you are now, it is not too early to take action.
The sooner you decide to take action, the more you can postpone the onset of cardiovascular problems, increase your quality of life and even live longer.
I don’t think there is anyone in the world who doesn’t want to live a longer, better life.
What is really important, however, is how much priority you will give to this aspect and how much effort you will decide to invest after you fully understand what you have to do and why.
A series of articles will follow in which you will learn from A to Z everything you need to know about cardiovascular diseases.
You will learn:
how these diseases develop;
why is a high cholesterol level not sufficient for the occurrence of heart disease;
what medical tests or investigations you should be interested in towards prevention;
what you should discuss with your cardiologist;
what would be the prevention methods you could implement.
I would also like to tell you that this topic is an extremely complex one.
I studied for months to be able to understand exactly what we, as people without any medical studies, have to do to prevent cardiovascular diseases.
Press “Upgrade to paid” and discover information that will help you understand, once and for all, what the danger of heart diseases actually means and, specifically, the things you can do to postpone their occurrence as much as possible.
