Did you know that in my home country of Romania there are 5000 amputations caused by diabetes taking place every year?
In Romania, there were 24312 amputations caused by diabetes in the 2006 – 2010 interval.
Source: CLICK.
That amounts to:
4800 on average per year;
400 on average per month;
100 on average per week;
That’s 10 amputations on average per month for every county. One every 3 days.
From 2004 to 2024 we can count a 20-year interval.
20 years x 5000 amputations on average per year = 100000 amputations
That means one hundred thousand of amputated legs or fingers in 20 years in a population of 20 million.
Maybe these statistics mean nothing to you, especially if you don’t have any knowledge about amputated legs or fingers.
It’s like the Israel vs Hezbollah war. It’s way over there, far away.
100 amputations per week on average to a population of 20 million.
5 amputations per week on average per 1 million inhabitants.
✅ WELL HOW ABOUT OTHER COUNTRIES?
Let’s take UK, for example. Over there, reports count almost 200 amputations per week on average.
Source: CLICK.
So two times more than in Romania. You’ll say that statistically, Romania fares better.
Yes, but there are 66 million inhabitants in the UK.
180 amputations per week on average to a population of 66 million.
2.7 amputations per week on average for every million inhabitants.
So actually, the situation in Romania is 2 times worse than in the UK.
It’s only logical, right? Romania has always been the dunce of the European community.
I am not surprised at all. Not even one bit.
What shocked me was this report from 7 years ago.
I hope it shocks you too and start taking action.
Eat fewer sweets.
Eat less starch.
Drink less alcohol.
Walk more.
14 years ago I lost weight and I’ve been keeping my figure ever since.
For 11 years I’ve been trying my best to help people give up sugar, flour, oil, alcohol and tobacco, help them move more, go to sleep earlier.
I’ve heard hundreds of horror stories from people who don’t want to live the tragedies of their parents. Who don’t want to become burdens for their children.
It would be a shame
It would be a shame to go blind or to lose a leg because of diabetes.
Type 2 diabetes is a disease that doesn’t instill overnight, but across decades. That’s the good news.
The bad news is that diabetes doesn’t hurt. Meaning you could already be a diabetic or pre-diabetic and not even know it.
✅ THE GOOD NEWS
With a minimum of education, with a minimum of effort and without costing you a dime you can prevent diabetes like a pro.
You don’t have to be rich, you don’t have to have a huge IQ, be clever or have a college degree to do good prevention for free.
You just have to care a bit.
All you have to do is have some self-respect and never accept becoming obese, out of shape and helpless.
All you have to do to prevent diabetes from instilling is to maintain a normal weight. Nothing more.
You don’t have to have a “sixpack” like in those glossy magazines.
All you have to do for prevention is to have a normal weight.
✅ MEASURE YOUR BELLYBUTTON CIRCUMFERENCE
A better indicator than weight is measuring your bellybutton circumference.
So not your waist. I mean where there is more deposited fat. You know.
It’s an indicator that is very easy to remember, easy to measure and 100% free.
If you want to prevent not only diabetes from instilling, but also cardiovascular disease or cancer, the ideal thing would be to maintain a specific value for your bellybutton circumference. It should be less than:
80 cm for women;
94 cm for men.
I found this podcast featuring this young, passionate and extremely knowledgeable diabetologist.
The podcast is in Romanian but you can use the auto-generated English translation you can access via the CC button on YouTube.
If you want to do prevention like a pro, I recommend you pay attention to this podcast.
It’s a one-hour jewel.
“You have to lose weight”
If you are already overweight and you are a frequent visitor of hospitals and clinics for various conditions, I guess you’re tired of hearing the same old line:
“You have to lose weight”
If you’re reading these words, you’ve likely done nothing so far.
Hey, you can do whatever you want with your life, but don’t you lie to me.
It’s not like you don’t know what to do in order to lose weight. Be honest.
As soon as I realized (in my early school years) I have a weight problem, I immediately found the solution.
30 years ago, the process of losing weight was no mystery.
You’re several kilos overweight and you want to lose weight?
Stop eating sweets and pastries, stop drinking sodas, juices and alcohol.
Why are we messing about here?
You don’t have to be a genius or have college degrees to know what you have to do to lose weight.
Read below about what actually happens when you cut down on carbs.
So you really don’t know?
You’re really from another planet and really don’t know what to eat and what to do to lose weight?
I’ve written many articles about this. Check my archive.
It would be a shame for you to go blind or wind up in a wheelchair because of diabetes when prevention is 100% free.
Unfortunately, in 2024, ignorance is a choice.
Not doing anything is also a choice.
Becoming a burden for your children is also a choice.
I can honestly tell you that I am very tired. For 11 years I’ve been asking people to act and do something for themselves.
Write about it in the comments section: what more can I do to help you? I’ll do it.
